Concrete Bridge Completed in Jimbi Village, Improving Mobility for Mimika Residents

MIMIKA, Indonesia — Residents of RT 11 in Jimbi Village SP 3, Kuala Kencana District, Mimika Regency, have begun using a newly completed concrete bridge that is expected to improve daily mobility, including access to schools, healthcare facilities, and the transportation of agricultural produce.

Lieutenant Colonel Jozanda, Commander of the Mimika Military District Command (Kodim 1710/Mimika), said the bridge is the third to be completed under the Garuda Bridge Program.

"The bridge serves as a vital link for the community and is expected to improve safety while facilitating residents' daily activities," Jozanda said.

Stevanus Alom, head of RT 11 in Jimbi Village, welcomed the completion of the project, noting that the previous wooden bridge had become unsafe and often caused accidents, particularly involving children.

"The old bridge was damaged, and children frequently fell while crossing it. Now, the community can travel more safely," Stevanus said.

According to Kodim 1710/Mimika, the Garuda Bridge Program aims to strengthen connectivity across Papua by developing infrastructure that supports local economic activities and improves access to essential public services. (Sri Lestari)
